Welcome 2007

Sheesh! 2007's first week has already passed. I can't believe how fast it all goes. Truly. It's a little bit frightening.

I'm hoping you all had a wonderful (insert your favorite holiday here.) I can't believe that it's already come and gone. Small child had a wonderful Christmas. He got a new bike from Santa. (His dad and I are trying to decide if he still really believes in Santa or if he's just "working it." We're leaning toward the latter.) I got some nice little gifts including small child's . . . the complete second season of The Flintstones . . . I LOVE The Flintstones. Small child gets kudos for his gift selecting this year . . . well . . . actually he gets kudos for every gift he gives me. Yep. Every one. I cherish them. Except for the cold that he gave me. THAT little gift I could've done without AND my voice was shot which had me worried about getting through the three gigs I had on the New Year's Eve weekend.

New Year's Eve ended up being fun. I played a gig, the crowd was great and some of my girl friends came out and drank champagne with me. My voice was tired but it worked just fine. After New Year's small child and I headed up to Oregon to visit my Mom. MAN, what a
looooooooooooooong drive. 9 hours. Looooooooooooooong drive, I tell ya. We had a nice time. Watched movies, played Yahtzee (I'm hooked), made cookies and we celebrated my Mom's birthday with her.

Got home from Oregon last night and . . . yes . . . it IS official. I have straight A's for the 2006 Fall Semester. I have a 4.0 grade average and Dean's honors right now. Who knew? I am thrilled and ecstatic. Now I've got to get revved up for Spring 2007. I'm registered for:

Anthropology
Sociology
Astronomy
Political Science
and
Creative Writing (this one will be for no credit and just for fun! Want to see if this will help my songwriting skills plus I love writing.)

Can we get a repeat performance of Loralee's Fall scholastic acheivements in the Spring? Stay tuned . . . .

I'm excited cause I'm getting ready to do a gig with Eric Martin (4-1-5, Mr. Big, The Eric Martin Band), his wife, and some of his friends on Sunday, January 21 @ 8:00 pm at the Sweetwater, 153 Throckmorton Blvd, Mill Valley, CA Come out and see the show. Last month's show was sold out and I'm pretty sure this one will be too. It's and evening of acoustic music and the talent that night will be extraordinary. I'm honored to be a part of it. If you want more info you can go to: www.loraleechristensen.com, www.myspace.com/loraleechristensen, or www.ericmartin.com , where he wrote this particularly kind blurb about me:

"Loralee Christensen has got pipes and has had the pipes consistently since I met her in the 80's. Not only is she an incredible soul belter but one of those women that you need to be friends with. She puts a lot of love in the room."

Nice, huh?

I'm pretty excited about my new space on My Space. . . again that's www.myspace.com/loraleechristensen or you can just go to my links and click there. It will take you directly to my profile. It's such a great networking tool. I've had people from Sweden and Denmark visit me! And it's nice because I've posted some of my own songs and folks get to hear what I do. If you're a "myspacer" come on over and become my friend!

Last but certainly, certainly NOT LEAST, the ever fabulous LL1 and I are closer than ever to finishing our duet. She just sent back her vocal tracks. Now it's up to small child's dad to do his magic. I can't wait to hear it. Just as soon as it's finished I will rush it off to LL1 and she will have a magical and wonderful post for you all. I am SOOOOO excited about this. Last year I didn't even know another Loralee C. existed then I met the most wonderful, sweet, charismatic Loralee C. from Utah AND she's a singer. This year I'm singing a duet with her. Life is funny, huh?

Well, now I must get back to my project for the week. Cleaning my house. Oh yes. It most certainly is a project. Probably THE biggest project I will have all year. (Getting A's in school was easy compared to this!) It's bad, I tell ya, bad. Social services bad. Hoarding bad. Clutter bad. Dirty dishes bad. "What in the eff did I save this for?" bad. Light a match and just get rid of it bad BUT, I am going to change that. Yes. I am. Quit your laughing, I am! I AM! Okay.
You'll see . . .

Comments:

I'll try to call you again when my house isn't falling down around my ears (But it is going to be SOOOOOO clean! GRIN)
